When No one is Looking

I have come to realize that some of the best shots I have taken are when the subjects think you are done and are just being themselves.

We were “done” with the family portrait session and these two lovebirds were taking a few moments to enjoy being with each other. This is a great picture because you can clearly see the love between the two subjects and it’s not a pose for the camera. It’s a natural showing of love. This photo is one good example of why I like to catch subjects in candid moments, you catch an honest moment in time forever and to me these are sweeter and more precious than any other. I don’t normally like centered subjects but in this shoot it works well, especially with the shallow depth of field. Have you caught a “When no one is looking moment? Tell us about it.

Monster Tree

I am learning on my journey of photography knowledge that the most interesting pictures are the ones you stumble across while you are doing something else.

I was at the playground shooting pics of the kids and noticed this tree. My first thought was hmm that is one gnarly tree. My second thought was it kinda looked like a monster coming out of the ground! I just happen to snap a shot of it before we became surrounded by a gang of not happy geese! What does the tree look like to you?

Precious Moments

Want to know why I have a deep seated love for photography?

Photography gives me the ability to capture some of the most precious moments in the world. My son is very protective of his little sister and he does a wonderful job of taking care of her (and bossing her around which I’m sure will make for interesting moments when they are older). In the future, when they reach the age where they can’t stand to be around each other I will still have this small reminder of the love that lives deep inside of them. And even further in the future when they are long gone and on their own I can look back with a smile and think how cute they were “back then”. Do you have a “Precious Moment”? Tell us about it!
